Dykstra Nursery
Susan Dykstra’s Nursery brims with plants which yield edible ingredients needed to begin or expand a home or school garden. She buys young stock from Maggie’s Herbs and starts her own plants from seed and from cuttings. Using Florida friendly practices, organic methods, and natural pest control, she is a font of horticultural information. Her passion is to encourage children to garden and know where their food comes from. As a result, she has stocked the children’s gardens at the Hastings OUR Center and Liberty Pines Academy as well as advised countless people about their gardens.
Her specialty now is traveling to area farmers markets to bring vegetable plants, herbs, pollinators, eggs, as well as chicken and rabbit manures to the public. Susan’s booth can be found at the St. Augustine pier market, Julington Creek market at Doctors Village, the State Route 210 Citizens Alliance market and the Nocatee market. Her nursery in Hastings is open all day, but you call before you come.
