A little eatery in Crescent Beach called Stephen’s Finds Foods serves affordable, local seafood and produce created by Chef Stephen Woodward. Open Monday through Friday, for breakfast and lunch, his daily menu reflects locally sourced produce from Hastings Farms and fish caught in the local waters of our First Coast. This restaurant is easy to miss, tucked in the back corner of treasure Beach Plaza on A1A, so keep a watchful eye for the bright lunch banner waving in the onshore breeze. Chef Stephen is committed to Slow Foods belief in the quality, authenticity and sustainability of regional food.
His menu reflects Southern favorites such as hoecakes, shrimp and grits, homemade sausage, Minorcan chowder, and chicken gumbo. Select from many comforting side dishes, listed on a blackboard each day. Chef is particularly skilled at preserving and canning, maybe a gift from his grandparents. He picks fruits and vegetables in season and creates an ever-changing selection of jellies, jams, preserves and pickled delights. His prickly pear syrup, sparkling with ruby red color, is a sweet surprise on any dessert. All of these are for sale at the counter. Don't forget to take some home or give one to a friend or houseguest as a lasting food memory of St. Augustine's "fine slow foods".
